Why this Markdown to HTML online converter is different
HTML is what Markdown was designed to produce, so this converter maps it directly instead of approximating.
- A true one-to-one mapping. Headings become h1 to h6, lists become ul and ol, pipe tables become real HTML tables, and fenced code becomes pre and code.
- Clean, semantic HTML. The output uses proper tags you can paste straight into a site, CMS, or email.
- Copy or download. Grab the HTML to your clipboard, or download an
.htmlfile. - GitHub Flavored Markdown supported. Tables, task lists, strikethrough, and footnotes all convert.
- No junk in the output. No tracking scripts, ads, or wrapper cruft, just the HTML for your content.
- Private and free. It runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and it works offline after the page loads, with no signup or watermark.
What is a Markdown to HTML converter?
Markdown is plain text with light symbols for structure: # for a heading, - for a list item, backticks for code. It is how most READMEs, technical docs, and AI chat replies are written.
HTML is what a browser reads: <h1> tags, <ul> lists, <table> elements. A Markdown to HTML converter turns the plain-text symbols into those tags.
This is the cleanest conversion of the set, because HTML is exactly what Markdown was built to produce. The tool reads the Markdown, works out its structure, and writes the matching HTML elements. A ## Heading becomes an <h2>, a pipe table becomes a real <table>, and a fenced code block becomes <pre><code>. You get clean, semantic markup, not a picture of it.
How to convert Markdown to HTML
Three steps. No account, no upload, no waiting on a server.
Add your Markdown
Paste it in, or drop a .md file onto the editor. A README, notes, or something an AI chat handed you all work.
Check the preview
The preview pane shows exactly how the HTML will render. Fix anything before you export.
Copy or download the HTML
Copy the HTML to paste into your site, CMS, or email, or download a standalone .html file.
What converts, and what doesn't
Because HTML is Markdown's native target, almost everything maps directly. Here is how each piece lands.
| Comes through | How it maps |
|---|---|
| Headings H1 to H6 | <h1> through <h6> elements |
| Bold, italic, strikethrough | <strong>, <em>, <del> |
| Ordered, bulleted, and nested lists (and task lists) | <ol>, <ul>, and nested list items |
| Pipe tables, with a header row | Real <table>, <thead>, and <tbody> |
| Fenced code blocks, links, images, blockquotes | <pre><code>, <a>, <img>, <blockquote> |
Supported Markdown features
- GitHub Flavored Markdown. Tables, task lists, footnotes, strikethrough, and alert callouts (
> [!NOTE]) all parse into HTML. - Semantic elements. Headings, lists, tables, and quotes become the matching HTML tags, so the output reads cleanly and stays accessible.
- Code blocks. Fenced code keeps its whitespace and lands inside
<pre><code>, ready to style however you like. - Math and diagrams. KaTeX math and Mermaid diagrams render in the live preview so you can check them before you export.
For the syntax itself, see the Markdown cheat sheet and Markdown documentation.
Common uses
- Nothing leaves your machine. The conversion is JavaScript running in your tab, so turning off wifi after the page loads does not stop it. We never see your file.
- Publish a README on the web. Docs live in Markdown, but your site or CMS wants HTML. This gets you clean markup to paste in without Pandoc or a command line.
- Clean up an AI draft. Paste the Markdown a chatbot gave you and get semantic HTML with no leftover
**and#to delete by hand. - Free, with no catch. No signup, no watermark, no daily limit. Open the page, convert, close the tab.
Markdown to HTML converter FAQ
Is the Markdown to HTML converter free?
Yes. It is free with no signup, no watermark, and no daily limit. Open the page, convert as many documents as you like, and close the tab.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs as JavaScript in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. It even works offline once the page has loaded.
Is the HTML clean and semantic?
Yes. Headings become h1 to h6, lists become ul and ol, pipe tables become real HTML tables, and fenced code lands inside pre and code, so the markup stays clean and readable.
Can I copy the HTML instead of downloading a file?
Yes. You can copy the HTML straight from the tool and paste it into a site, CMS, or email, or download a standalone .html file if you prefer.
Does it handle tables and code blocks?
Yes. Pipe tables become real HTML tables with a header row, and fenced code blocks become pre and code elements that keep their whitespace.
What Markdown syntax is supported?
Standard Markdown plus GitHub Flavored Markdown: tables, task lists, footnotes, strikethrough, and alert callouts, along with code blocks, links, images, and blockquotes.

KaTeX math and Mermaid diagrams render in the live preview so you can check them before you export.
Does the Markdown to HTML converter work on mobile?
Yes. It runs in mobile browsers, so you can paste Markdown and copy or download HTML from a phone or tablet.
